This page tells you how to install Python software on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. You can choose between two different level of installation, basic and advanced. The basic version will install all the necessary packages in order to get started with scientific computing in Python, while the advanced version includes packages for the more advanced users. The installation using the advanced version is more likely to cause problems, so it is recommended that you use the basic version unless there explicitely are som packages that you need. For each platform, you are presented with several installation methods, tailored to different needs and knowledge with installing software. We have made a table that gives an overview over which packages are included in the different installation methods.
