The goal is to give students insight and develop skills in modern microelectronics for mixed-mode (analog and digital) circuit design. The students are trained in design and measurement of analog circuits for microsystems and low-power microelectronics for demanding mixed-mode applications. Important issues like technology scaling and paracitics, also impacting modern digital design, are treated. The material treated is also relevant for designing and understanding high-speed digital circuits since digital signals are getting quite analog when limits are pushed. Especially interference and signal distribution of digital circuits is handled better with analog understanding.
Based on this course, students should be able to design both simple analog structures as well as robust digital circuits for production in state-of-the-art technology.
