Comics!

I have a passion for comics. I collect them to read them, over and
over. These are some of my favourite comics and comic artists. All
of these are semi-heavy or heavy on graphics:
.
In his native Belgium this character is known as ``Gaston
Lagaffe''. He works at a comic publisher and does nothing but
invent bizarre gizmos, wreak havoc and sleep.
- André Franquin, the master of Spirou
and Gaston Lagaffe.
- ``Linda and Valentin''. In their native
France known as just ``Valérian'' (and her name is Laureline).
Intelligent adventure in a mostly science fiction setting.
- Jean-Claude Mézières, the artist that
draws Linda and Valentin.
a product of Neil Gaiman's imagination..
. I think that is the name he's known by all
over the world (except perhaps the US). Adventure and humor in a
kinda historic setting.
- A very good article about Asterix.
Almost nothing done yet:
- ``Sprint''. In France known as
``Spirou''. He and his journalist friend Kvikk (French:
``Fantasio''), sometimes acompanied by their pets Spip (the squirrel)
and Spiralis (French: ``Marsupilami'', the other animal) has
adventures all around the world. Good mixture of adventure and humor.
- Herman is a very good artist. Something about some of his comics
here soon: Bernard Prince, ...
I should perhaps mention the clasical ``Tintin'' (Belgian), of
which I have all the albums. But frankly I find Tintin only marginaly
entertaining, and in all of Herge's unimaginative perfectionism there
are some stupid errors (that are aggrevated by their utter stupidity
and the the high level of perfectionism involved).
A honorable mention should be made of ``Lucky Luke'' (Belgian).
Always entertaining and funny, but not as brilliant as the ones
mentioned above. There is a
page devoted to Morris, the creator of Lucky Luke and a page for
Lucky Luke himself.
Bourgeon should be mentioned, honorably. He is one of the most
noted artists in european comics, but I'm not that big a fan.
But Teemu is a Bourgeon
fan too :-)
Berke
Breathed's Bloom County is simply brilliant!
Other Comics stuff:
- Erik TKS has a European
Comics on the Web. Some links to pages of his scattered thru the
above links.
- Teemu
Mäkinen likes european comics. His list includes most of the
modern european greats it seems. I have scattered links to his pages
where appropriate.

For norwegian speakers:
- Normenn som elsker tegneserier vil muligens
ha glede av Tegn et glimrende blad om tegneserier som kommer ut
omtrent 4 ganger i året. Tegn kan kontaktes på denne adressen:
Tegn A/L
Westye Egebergsgt. 8c
0172 Oslo
Tegn kan også kjøpes i gode tegneserie butikker (f.eks. Trondsmo i
Oslo), samt noen Narvesen utsalg.
- No Comprendo Press er
et ganske undergruns forlag som gir ut ... tegneserier.
