Iceland 2000

In June 2000 Ingbjørg, Vibeke and I spent 11 days at the beautiful island Iceland. The trip had been planned for about a year, although we decided the final destination (Iceland) i January first.

In the start we had a plan about going to USA and The Wild West to pretend we were cowboys for a week or so, but the cost of this trip (if we were going from Norway to the US we had to stay at least 3 weeks, of course...), made us realize we had to think about something less expensive, but not less exciting. Which again made us think about Iceland.

So the goal with this trip was a week horseback-trekking in the Icelandic outback. We had a closer look at a couple of catalogues from Íshestar, and since we all had spent some time on horseback before, we decided to give the famous Kjólur-tour a try. A decision I guess none of us regrets; The staff, the other passengers, the horses, the highland landscape, the accommodation and the food and even the weather was just fabulous!

We arrived at Keflarvik Airport Thursday afternoon, hired a small car and drove towards our hostel in Hafnafjorður. At the way we decided to visit the Blue Lagoon, and spent a couple of hours in the hot pool.

The next week we didn't spend much time in Reykjavik:
