MECCANO: UIO specific
Contents:
WP contribution
The University of Oslo contributes to several work packages:
WP3 (Systems architecture and demonstrators)
WWW aspects: WWW-integrated RTSP control module with possibility of
starting MM tools. We will explore possibilities of web-integration
of an RTSP-based control mechanism for joining MBone sessions. We will
evaluate the possible solutions, and make a prototype implementation of
the system.
WP4 (MM conference components)
Media Servers: Tests of Oracle video server and RealServer from Real Networks.
Evaluate possible integration with MECCANO tools. This work will be done
in cooperation with the Norwegian
Rock Archive project.
WP5 (Network support)
Work on the Multicast-Unicast
Reflector, integration with the module developed as part of WP3.
MECCANO tools for IPv6. Porting of VIC/RAT, performance analysis and
comparison of IPv4/IPv6 performance on various platforms.
WP7 (Announcement, management and control)
SIP client/server development and integration of mail based session invitation
and booking. Evaluation of VoIP
technology and its compatibility with SIP and H.323.
WP8 (Consolidation of applications)
Mechanisms for invitation and publicity related to regular international
MBone events.
Evaluation of the MECCANO tools in the Virtual Coffee Room project and
in the electronic classroom with New Learning.
